Bergenske - $5,200
A true Sydney timber classic - Bergenske was built in 1948/49 by Jack Christoffersen and his father in their backyard in Balmain. The family came from Bergen in Norway hence the name.
She is built along the lines of a Blue Bird design without the hard chine, construction is solid timber decking and planking in douglas fir, I believe. Mast is timber and beech decking was put the on top of timber deck by a previous owner, this is now wearing thin.
I have owned the yacht for over 20 years and over this time have enjoyed continually sailing her, for this reason she has always been kept in good sailing condition. Being a heavy little yacht I have always been able to sail with all sails up and without a reef in any wind. I don't stay overnight so down below could do with some paint and additional creature comforts. I am now moving up to a larger yacht.
The two sails (mail and head) are in good condition. Power comes from a fairly new Johnson 4HP outboard. The original drive shaft is still in the yacht so conversion back to inboard power is possible. The yacht has always had a full cover on her.
Please call for more details, extra history and construction photos are also available.
