History

Built just after the war by Murray and his Dad,she was originally an open couta boat but was later "raised up" by two planks and had had a small forrard cabin added. After a small "event" when she broke free of her mooring in Coles bay and landed on the rocks, she had her garboards replaced as well.Rebecca was used for fishing initially for couta, and later cray and scalefish, and did not actually become a "pleasure boat till 1989 0r so.Murray is now approaching 90yrs , but still "gets out"to see the "old Rebecca" when i take her up to Port Sorrell(i still keep a mooring there as it is Rebecca's spiritual home, and a good overnight trip from Wynyard in the old girl)

Comments

For those Melbournites, Murray owned and fished with the"Patsy" which is now proudly displayed in the forcourt of the Melbourne museum for many years. He is a man who knows how to work these old couta boats, and let me tell you, he sure as hell knew how to build them. The Rebecca is still going strong, but is now showing her age cosmetically im afraid
