History

Argyll was commissioned prior to world war 2 for Captain Archibald Mac Arthur of Lindenow near Bairnsdale.

She was completed and launched in 1945 with the inclusion of a Chevrolet Blitz transfer case for the V drive coupled to a Chrysler engine. The new military issue transfer case was bought back to Australia by Captain Mac Arthur after the war.

Argyll was passed on to the next 2 generations of the family,who continued the tradition of using Argyll to commute down to Lakes Entrance where they have a 99 year lease on a cottage vested to the family after construction of the Entrance.

Argyll was purchased by Gary Plumley in 2004, who is now the second registered owner.

Argyll's topsides and interior was redesigned by Gary with an extensive re birthing carried out by James Frecheville and Tim Heaney at FH Boat Paynesville.

She is Huon pine planking with solid Brazilian Mahogany superstructure and fitout. The complete rebuild should serve her well for the next 60 years.

The original lofting plans, launch and construction photos and chisels etc used in construction have been passed on to Gary Plumley by the boatbuilders son Ray Neill of Sarsdale near Bairnsdale.
