History |
Built for Norman Ford in 1928 at Largs Bay before Searles moved to Birkenhead. Was a gun boat at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron until the mid thirties when everyone else caught up. Originally gaff rigged but changed to cutter rig in early 50's. Didn't have an engine until the early 50's. She has had a number of owners in the last eighty odd years. Present owner has cared for her for 15 years. She is constructed of Jarrah below the waterline and Baltic pine above on laminated Kauri frames. The old cast iron floors have been replaced with Kauri floor. She is in excellent condition both inside and out, testament to how they built craft in those days. |
