History |
Working fishing boat (CP594 - V), Western Port Bay. Built at Cayzers in 1960, New Zealand Kauri/celery top, clenched rivets, Queensland Beech Deck, original Lister Diesel. under Survey until 1991. On retirement the original owner sold to a recreational fisherman, who fell into poor health and sold it to the existing owner. Recaulked and redecked in Pompie's boat yard in Mordialloc, 1996. Trucked across the nullabor to Perth in 1996. Further restoration and maintenance work done at Traditional Marine Services (Chris Bowman) in Fremantle. Currently penned at Royal Perth Yacht Club. |

Race Record |
Raced regularly in Division 3 at RPYC. Does well on handicap (with a good handicap against longer & lighter boats). Class handicap winner in Old Gaffer's regattas. |

Comments |
Christina is in excellent condition, faithful to her fishing boat heritage. Maintains original spars, excepting a longer gaff. The only deviation from Couta Boat class rules is that running backstays have been maintained, with chain plates slightly further forward than normal - a setup that allowed better downwind running as a working boat. |
