History

Built in 1983 by Ken Lacco and Tim Phillips and one of the last Couta Boats built by Ken Lacco.

Commissioned by Bill Davis and named in honour of his mother.

Still presented in her original colours of burgundy topsides with white boot-top and black hull beneath the water line, although during the 2007 season she raced with tan sails.

The number 'C305' is the original number assigned to her when Bill first had Kate registered and raced at the 'top end' of the Port Phillip bay (Royal Brighton?).

Bill sold Kate to Warwick Leeming in 1987 who had great success in her sailing off Sorrento.

Warwick sold Kate in 2002 to a syndicate of 5 Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club members namely; Michael Heaton, Richard Hurley, Steve Silk, Garry Smith and Ralph Wilson (known as the Kate Syndicate).

Race Record

Kate has won virtually all the races at one time or another during her racing career both over the line and on handicap. She is clearly one of the top 26 footers racing.
