History

The Resolve is a new 1903 Lakes Gaffer built by students at Scotch College in the period 2009 – 2011 under the supervision of Shipwright, Mr Richard Blake. In designing the boat Richard took the lines for The Resolve from “Edna”, a 1903 Lakes Gaffer moored at Metung.

Comments

The boat is traditional with Kauri Pine strip planking together with a laid Celery Top Pine deck. It is trimmed inside by Huon Pine combings and Thwart seat. The framing is laminated Kauri Pine and all fastenings are copper and stainless steel. It is powered by a 15 Hp 2 cylinder diesel. The materials used in construction are the best boat building timbers available in Australia. The hull was strip planked upside down and glass sheathed both inside and out. As a consequence the hull will require little maintenance. An opportunity to purchase a new, hand crafted period yacht. The Resolve is presently stored at St Kilda.
